Live Holidays (trading as Cuba Direct, Travel Direct and Visa Cuba) is a leading tour operator with more than 10-years' experience in the travel industry. Although we specialise in Cuba, we recently launched several new destinations through our Travel Direct brand to diversify our portfolio.

The IT department plays an integral, rather than simply supportive role, within the company and is proud to play a key role in its steady growth. We have a regular in-house team of five developers with different backgrounds who specialise in different areas of the business. We also collaborate with external developers on a project basis.

We are looking for a dedicated Assistant IT Manager to report to our IT Manager. He or she will be responsible and accountable for the smooth running of our computer systems within limits and requirements, specifications, costs, and timelines. He/she will help supervise the implementation and maintenance of the company’s computing needs.

The organisation is committed to increasing profitability by becoming Data-Driven and technology independent. Over the past two years we have taken several significant steps in this direction. We migrated our main IT infrastructure to Microsoft Azure and, in parallel, begun an in-house project to create a Data Warehouse that will centralise data from different relevant systems. We recently started the development of a new Reservations System and are planning to adopt a new CRM this year. These are ongoing and exciting projects with lots of room to improve and innovate.

The successful candidate will have proven IT skills, a professional manner, relevant professional experience and a detailed knowledge of the industry’s best practice processes.

Role Description / Responsibilities / Main Duties

  • Maintain, support and upgrade, where necessary, the core IT infrastructure under the direction of the IT Manager
  • Provide Systems Administration, including maintaining user/group accounts, user configuration, trouble-shooting access problems and completion of on-site documentation
  • Assist in Server infrastructure management, performance monitoring, Operating System upgrades and troubleshooting
  • Ensure effective support for other systems, including back office, sales, marketing, accounting and human resources applications and any other in use at the company
  • Implement and coordinate systems, policies, and procedures
  • Ensure security of data, network access and backup systems
  • Identify problematic areas and implement strategic solutions
  • Audit systems and assess their outcomes
  • Preserve assets, information security and control structures
  • Liaise with the developers' team to configure and manage the DevOps environments
  • Reporting to: IT Manager
  • Line Manager Responsibility: In the absence of the IT Manager, the Managing Director

Experience / Qualifications

  • Excellent knowledge of technical management, information analysis and computer hardware/software systems
  • Expertise in data management and governance
  • Hands-on experience with computer networks, network administration and network installation

Skill / Requirements (this is by no means exhaustive)

We are looking for an enthusiastic, motivated individual who shows passion for the technology and the travel industry. The ideal candidate will be a team player who is a fast learner, adaptable and has exceptional interpersonal and communication skills. You should show demonstrable experience of 3+ years in a similar role.
